Changes in Ika - an exploratory study of a language and a community

Participant Joseph Onyeche

Iká is an Igboid language spoken in southern Nigeria. It thus belongs to that widespread language family commonly known as Niger-Congo (or, Niger-Kordofanian).

You can read more about the history of the Ika people at IkaWorld.com.

The present project describes and explains ongoing changes in the Iká language on the basis of fieldwork data collected in Nigeria during 2000.

The project covers mainly sociolinguistic issues, but some descriptive material is also included.
