Venues and directions

Thursday 1st June

For those of you who are planning to attend Ponsiano Kanijo’s seminar, it will be held at our own department, at Humanisten (the Faculty of Arts campus), Renströmsgatan 6. The seminar will be in room C363 (situated on the 3rd floor, i.e. the same floor as the main entrance) but we suggest meeting for an informal coffee beforehand, at 2.45 p.m. in the large staff room at the end of corridor F on the 4th floor (on the right-hand side, just before the kitchen).

The nearest public transport stop is KORSVÄGEN, and the walk from there should take no more than 5 minutes. For those of you staying at Hotel Panorama, the faculty building is a short walk downhill.

Note that we are currently undergoing an extensive rebuild, so there is some disruption to the walkways and cycle paths around the building.

Friday 2nd June: the workshop, day 1

The first day of the workshop will be held at Wallenberg Conference Centre, at Medicinareberget, up the hill from Sahlgrenska Hospital. The nearest public transport stop is MEDICINAREGATAN, and the walk from there should take no more than 5-6 minutes.

From KORSVÄGEN, you can take either of the 6, 8 and 13 trams, and MEDICINAREGATAN is the third stop on that route. From the city centre (BRUNNSPARKEN or KUNGSPORTSPLATSEN), you can take the number 7 tram (in the direction of Tynnered), but to be sure, it’s is better to check Västtrafik’s travel planner: https://www.vasttrafik.se/#!/en/

Registration starts at 8.30 and the talks at 9.00.

Friday 2nd June: evening dinner

We are having dinner at Barken Viking, a four-masted sailing ship now permanently moored at Lilla Bommen, a dock close to the city centre.

Getting there from the conference centre via local transport depends on the time of travel, but the easiest way is to take the number 7 tram (in the direction of Bergsjön) from MEDICINAREGATAN to BRUNNSPARKEN and then walk the remaining 10-12 minutes.

Saturday 3rd June: the workshop, day 2

For the second day of the workshop we will be using the university’s Ågren Residence (Swedish: Ågrenska villan), close to the Faculty of Arts campus, and about a 10 minute walk from KORSVÄGEN. On the map below, you can also see how to walk there from GÖTAPLATSEN, the square at the top of Gothenburg’s main boulevard (Kungsportsavenyen).
