Russian - Research

Russian linguistics and Russian literature are included within the research and postgraduate proogramme in the subject of Slavic languages. The research profile in Russian consists of thetopics indicated below, which are of special interest to the Department researchers in Russian literature and language.

Russian literature

  • Russian symbolism and post-symbolism, especially the work of Andrej Belyjs. See also: Magnus Ljunggren (Professor Emeritus)
  • Russian emigrant literature with a focus on Vladimir Nabokov. See also Svetlana Polsky;
  • Postwar literature; contemporary Russian prose by women with a focus on Tatjana Tolstaja and Ljudmila Ulitskaja. See also Svetlana Polsky.

Russian linguistics

  • Modern Russian grammar;
  • Grammar typology and contrastive linguistics with a special focus on functional-semantic categories such as aspects and taxis;
  • Bilingual lexicography. See also Nadezjda Zorikhina Nilsson.

Corpus linguistics has increasingly come to be a part of the Russian subject area profile. Work on language corpora has even become a part of teaching. Out of 22 Candidate-and Magister theses in Russian examined during the current period (2004 – spring 2010) 8 are based on corpus analysis of various kinds.
