English at Bachelor's level

The University of Gothenburg offers students great freedom in choosing English courses. The courses are not cemented into a set programme; instead there is still a recommended study path ending in a Bachelor of Arts in English, as you can see in the illustration below. By combining courses in English with other courses, you can create a unique profile that matches both your interests and your career plans. This means that you need to apply for courses prior to each semester.

The requirements you need to meet for a Bachelor of Arts in English are as follows. You need to complete a total of 180 credits (c), of which 90 c must be English courses. These 90 credits must consist of the introductory course 30 c, the intermediate course 30 c as well as an in-depth course 15 c and a research project 15 c;. see the illustration below.

The remaining 90 c can be completed within any subject area. You can always meet with the Study Advisor to discuss what courses may be appropriate to take based on your interests and plans for the future.
