Om Marius Hentea

Background

Born in Romania, I grew up in the United States, studying at Columbia University (B.A.) and Harvard University (Ph.D. in Government). I then went on to do a Ph.D. in English at the University of Warwick. Prior to joining the University of Gothenburg in 2015, I held academic positions at Université Paris-V (Descartes), Ghent University, and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Research

My main areas of research are modernism and the avant-garde, although I am also interested in literary theory more broadly, narratology, and the intersection of culture and politics. I am the author of Henry Green at the Limits of Modernism (Sussex Academic Press, 2014) and TaTa Dada: The Real Life and Celestial Adventures of Tristan Tzara (MIT Press, 2014), as well as numerous essays appearing in such journals as Book History, Dada/Surrealism, MLQ, Modernism/Modernity, Modernist Cultures, Narrative, and PMLA.

Teaching

At Gothenburg I teach on EN1110 (‘A’ level), in both the cultural studies and literature modules, and the M.A. course in Modernism. I also supervise undergraduate and doctoral theses. Prior to Gothenburg, I taught courses on social class in British modernism, postwar British literature, American travel writing, and literary theory.
