About Evelina Johansson

My project focuses on e-assessment strategies within undergraduate online English courses. There are indications that higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are important for the task of developing a second language; however, e-assessment tasks at online university courses are mainly designed to develop lower-order thinking skills. Thus, the aim of my project is to map current e-assessment strategies within undergraduate English courses to detect whether or not these aim at developing higher-order thinking skills. The study will also investigate how e-assessment tasks that develop HOTS promote L2 acquisition. Is it possible to detect a relationship between HOTS and L2 learning? The study is framed within Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory and will view interaction as essential for the task of developing both HOTS and L2 proficiency.
