Clear graphic identity gives credibility

Everyone who works within the University of Gothenburg makes a contribution towards how the university is thought of by others. How we communicate with and respond to colleagues, students, potential students and external contacts has an impact on our identity and the image others have of us. An important part of our communication with others is the graphic profile and our logotype.

Competition for teachers, researchers, students and research funds is hardening and international rankings of universities and colleges play an increasingly important role. An unclear image of our university puts us in a worse position than we deserve.

Our graphic profile is based on extensive work on our identity and image and this assists us in making the desired impression: The broad and open university, open to the world around us and engaged in the development of society.

The manual is a handbook for everyone who will design visual communications sent out by the University of Gothenburg, whether in general or by individual institutions and units.

It is our common responsibility to follow the rules to achieve a consistent visual identity. The University of Gothenburg’s logotype symbolises our quality and credibility. These are the values that we should be communicating together.
