About Karin Axelsson

Background

I defended my doctoral dissertation Tag questions in fiction dialogue at the Department of Languages and Literatures in 2011. After that I was Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Skövde for four years. I taught grammar, written proficiency, academic writing, phonetics and pronunciation. From 2012 I was the Subject Coordinator of English. I still hold a permanent position at the University of Skövde but I am on leave of absence.

Teaching

During the autumn semester of 2015 I teach English linguistics in the English Introductory Course (EN1110).

Research

According to my project plan for the two-year postdoctoral fellowship (August 2015–July 2017), I will try to develop the English–Swedish Parallell Corpus in order to facilitate research on the language of fiction dialogue in English and its translation into Swedish. I also intend to follow up on my earlier research on tag questions.
